She gained popularity when she played the role of Cat Valentine on the Nickelodeon TV series, Victorious, and afterward portrayed the same character on the spin-off, Sam & Cat. She broke out musically in 2013 with her debut single, "The Way" from her No. 1 debut album, Yours Truly.
In 2014, Grande achieved worldwide success with "Problem" which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, and released her sophomore album, My Everything on August 25, 2014.
In March 2016, Grande released her lead single "Dangerous Woman" for her third studio album Dangerous Woman. The song debut at No. 10 in the Billboard Hot 100 making her the first artist in the history of the chart to have all her lead singles from her first three albums debut in the top ten. She went on the Dangerous Woman Tour in 2017, and the tour grossed $71M. She has officially been made an honorary citizen of Manchester after organizing and performing at the One Love Manchester benefit concert.
In August 2018, Grande released her fourth studio album, Sweetener, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200, becoming her third to reach the top position in the country. Its lead single, "No Tears Left To Cry", was released on April 20, 2018, and debuted at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100. "The Light Is Coming", featuring Nicki Minaj, was released as a promotional single on June 20, 2018, along with the pre-order of the album. "God Is A Woman" was released as the second single on July 13, 2018, and peaked at number 8. Grande was named Woman of the Year by Billboard in 2018.

In April 2018, Grande kicked off promotion for her fourth album, Sweetener, by issuing the single "No Tears Left to Cry," which debuted at number three on the Hot 100. It was followed by "God Is a Woman" later that year. Upon its release in August 2018, Sweetener debuted at number one in both the U.S. and U.K.
Three months after the release of Sweetener, Grande returned with the non-LP single "Thank U, Next." Quickly becoming an internet sensation, "Thank U, Next" shot to number one throughout the world, as did Grande's next single, "7 Rings." Both songs were featured on the full-length album Thank U, Next, which appeared in February 2019. Her fourth U.S. number one, the set also topped the charts in over a dozen countries, further buoyed by the third single "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored." Mere months after the release of Thank U, Next, Grande moved on with a series of collaborations, including "Monopoly" with Victoria Monet, "Boyfriend" with Social House, and the Charlie's Angels reboot theme "Don't Call Me Angel" with Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey. Capping off the year, Grande was nominated for five Grammy Awards: Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Thank U, Next, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "7 Rings," and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Boyfriend."
