The Sims 4 officially announces Eco Lifestyle expansion with release date and trailer.
As previously rumored, The Sims 4: Eco Lifestyle will be the ninth full Expansion Pack. A trailer (which you can watch above) shows Sims transforming a wasteland area into a blossoming and green neighborhood by working together and embracing a more sustainable lifestyle.
Fans won't have to wait long, either. The release date for the expansion is set for Friday, June 5 for all platforms – PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
The official page for Eco Lifestyle lists a number of features in the pack, including solar panels, wind turbines, dew collectors, recycling, and even scrounging through dumpsters to find new items and resources.
Sims will also be part of a voting board where they can influence Neighbourhood Action Plans by campaigning and teaming up with other activists.
"Every decision you make – what power sources you rely on, how you design your home, and which Neighborhood Action Plans you vote for – influences the state of the world, from smoggy skies to crystal-clear water," the website's description reads.
"If you don't take action, you might see nature retreat as junk accumulates around town.
"On the other hand, buildings bloom with more flora and green when the trash is picked up and lots are kept clean."
George Pigula, producer of Eco Lifestyle, said: "We’re thrilled to give players the opportunity to explore an eco-friendly way of living in The Sims and play the change they want to see.
"By discovering and practicing sustainable habits, like using solar panels or wind turbines to power their electricity or upcycling materials to create new furniture, players and their Sims can play with life in all-new ways."
The Sims 4 explored similar themes in 2019's Island Living, where Sims could become a conservationist and help to clean the polluted beaches of Sulani. But Eco Lifestyle appears to be taking this idea much further.
Elsewhere, vertical gardens and living rooftops will be added with this expansion, and new career paths include Civil Designer and Freelance Crafter.
Also coming over the next six months are the community-voted Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack – featuring knitting-exclusive clothing and rocking chairs – and an untitled Game Pack which producer Michael Duke previously described as "a major first for us".
