Controversial YouTuber Jake Paul's mansion in Calabasas was raided by the FBI today as they executed a federal search warrant, and it's all very concerning. Earlier this morning, the agency visited Jake's house as part of an ongoing investigation, but the specifics of what they were searching for are unclear, though ABC7 reports that several firearms were found and seized.
Paparazzi photographers snapped pictures of dozens of uniformed people and about 20 vehicles swarming the property. There aren't any pictures of Jake himself, and according to ABC7, no arrests are planned.
"The affidavit in support of the search warrant is sealed and we are, therefore, prohibited from commenting as to the nature of the investigation," the bureau told ABC7 in a statement.
This search warrant and firearms seizure happens two weeks after Jake hosted a controversial and ill-advised party at his house. The party sparked a huge backlash, especially in the YouTuber community, over Jake's total disregard of pandemic social distancing guidelines in a time when California is suffering from outbreaks. The mayor of Calabasas, Alicia Weintraub, even slammed him publicly for being so insensitive.
"They’re having this large party, no social distancing, no masks, it’s just a big huge disregard for everything that everybody is trying to do to get things back to functioning. It’s really just a party acting like COVID does not exist, it’s acting that businesses aren’t closed," she said.
Jake's stayed unusually quiet since this all went down, but he did retweet Tyler Oakley's call out for some reason:
TBD on what this FBI search evolves into, but given Jake's history, followers can probably expect a YouTube video about it to drop any day now.
