Simon Cowell found himself in hospital over the weekend as he fell off his electric bike at his home in Malibu. The music mogul was testing the bike when he fell and broke his back, with his fans unsure how serious the break was and whether Simon was going to be okay.
But proving it would take a lot more than near paralysis to keep him down, Simon tweeted from his hospital bed mere hours after surgery. The music mogul, who turned 60 recently, gave an update to his 11.3million followers in his usual tongue-in-cheek way.
‘And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe everyone,’ he continued.
Friends of the father-of-one have sent they're well wish to Simon while Amanda Holden also gave an update on his health and mood.
Amanda works with Simon as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, which is due to film in the autumn, with the mogul scheduled to be in the UK for the live final in October.
Taking to social media, Amanda wrote: ‘I’ve been thinking about my dear friend all day and luckily I’m able to write that he’s had his operation and he’s doing really well.’
‘My family and I wish you a speedy recovery and send you, Lauren and Eric all our love.’
Along with this, the radio presenter shared a throwback photo of the pair, who became close friends when they started working together on BGT back in 2007.
It seems as though Simon was one lucky man, as it was revealed that if the injury was closer to his spine then the situation could have been very dire.
Speaking to the Mirror, a source said: ‘Simon fell flat on his back and the doctors say the impact missed his spinal cord by about a centimeter and it could have been a lot, lot more serious.’
Simon was reportedly with his six-year-old son Eric and his stepson Adam at the time of his fall, while his girlfriend Lauren Silverman accompanied him to the hospital and was able to see him briefly due to restrictions.
The source also said that he was ‘in shock and enormous amounts of pain’ but was soon asking for his iPad to check his emails from his hospital bed.
According to the Daily Mail, a representative also confirmed that he had a ‘metal rod’ put into his back during the lengthy procedure which happened overnight.
It is said that he may be in hospital for a number of days as he recovers but it believed that hie recent weight loss and healthy lifestyle will help him make an even faster recovery.
This is his second serious accident that Simon has had having previously fallen down the stairs at his London home in October 2017 after fainting.
