Lady Gaga Will Headline Global Citizen's 'One World' Concert Special For Coronavirus Relief
The singer also announced she and Global Citizen already raised $35 million for WHO.
Lady Gaga is lending her star power to a virtual concert special that will support those on the frontlines of the coronavirus pandemic. Gaga, Global Citizen, and the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the One World: Together at Home special today. The concert special will raise money for healthcare professionals battling the pandemic through the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Funds raised from the musical event will support local and regional charities that provide essential goods, shelter, and healthcare to those in need. Gaga and Global Citizen have already raised $35 million for WHO, the singer revealed today during WHO's press conference.
The special will feature appearances and performances from several high-profile musicians and performers. A lineup for the event includes Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong, J Balvin, Andrea Bocelli, Burna Boy, Billie Eilish, and FINNEAS, Elton John, John Legend, Chris Martin, Alanis Morissette, Lizzo, Kacey Musgraves, Paul McCartney, Keith Urban, Eddie Vedder, Stevie Wonder, Maluma, pianist Lang Lang, David Beckham, Idris, and Sabrina Elba, Kerry Washington, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Shah Rukh Khan.
“As we honor and support the heroic efforts of community health workers, One World: Together At Home aims to serve as a source of unity and encouragement in the global fight to end COVID-19. Through music, entertainment and impact, the global live-cast will celebrate those who risk their own health to safeguard everyone else’s,” Hugh Evans, co-founder and CEO of Global Citizen, said in a statement, per People.
Variety reports that the two-hour special will air simultaneously on ABC, CBS, and NBC with those networks' late-night hosts Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Fallon co-hosting the evening.
The starry special will air April 18 at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT/12 AM GMT and be accessible on a variety of platforms, including Amazon Prime Video, Facebook, Twitter, Tidal, and YouTube. BBC One will air the special internationally on April 19.
